I have become obsessed with moody elements, bold statement features and out of the box designs. I found I was stuck living in an oh-too-modern mindset and needed some much needed change. I took the first step in our house when we needed to design our new office space. All images below are linked to the vendor websites.

I chose to paint the room Shadow Mountain by Behr in matte. We use this same color as an accent wall in our bedroom and I was so in love with the moody tone. Plus, it looks great with white trim.

The curtains I chose were out of my comfort zone, but they were the only ones that jumped out at me while I was in the curtain isle at Target. I didn’t want to stick to my usual tan or white sheer curtains. I wanted something different and something BOLD. The Opalhouse designed with Jungalow Light Filtering Velvet Macrame Teal curtains (that is a mouthful) were the perfect statement piece (other than the desk I found).

Next, I needed a rug. I knew I wanted a blue or green rug to tie the whole space together. I found this 5’X7’ Vintage Tufted Distressed Area Rug in Indigo by Threshold at Target. I was nervous that the curtains and rug weren’t going to match, but I just had to be patient until the whole room was done to realize everything was PERFECT.

Last, but not least…I found this gorgeous executive desk with a bookcase on the front end from OfferUp. The lady who was selling it to me was so patient because we had to figure out how to collect it-it is 300lbs! She ended up taking the desk apart and we were able to move it in and piece it back together. It’s all Cherry, with 9 drawers and the bookcase in the front is so unique. Instead of having wasted space with a piece of wood on the front, I have something to showcase books and pictures. She also gave me the matching chair. Take a look at the video below for more details.

This room is still far from done! We are adding built-in bookcases on the far end of the room with a desk in between for another workspace. I still have to hang pictures and art, but for now…here she is and I love working in here!
